A Portrait Exploration
The project began with a notion of exploring and understanding the complex interpretation of self. I began by asking the subject for their interpretation of “my true self” as it relates to their aesthetic and philosophy. In discussing these ideas, the subjects then identified and determined suitable locations, representative fashion, and evocative expressions. Together, these choices characterise a degree of self-actualisation that valuably contributes to our understanding of the ideological place and force of inward narratives that authorise underlying socio-psychological configurations.
Actor / Model
I’m a social person – I love people – if I’m really honest to myself – I need people (as most of us do) to stay sane. Relationships I form with people tend to cornerstone how I feel about myself. I can feel positive and happy if I’m honest with someone, if I know I’ve given aid to someone, if I know I’ve been compassionate with somebody. They are all helpful to the other person, but emotionally they are also very self-fulfilling.
